Health Testing
Each of our dogs is microchipped then tested for luxating patellas, heart murmurs, genetic eye abnormalities and will be registered with OFA, cardiac OFA and eyes through CERF. Once testing is complete at one year of age all results are forwarded to the CHIC registry.
While we are aware that having our dogs tested does not guarantee that they will not have problems in the future or do not carry the genes to produce many of the health issues associated with a toy breed...
We strive to maintain the healthiest and most structurally sound dogs for our breeding program in hopes that we will eventually be able to consistently produce generations of health tested dogs...
All of our dogs that are bred have see our vet on a regular basis... are given heartworm & parasite preventive medications monthly and are vaccinated on a regular basis.

It is imperitive that you have your dog microchipped BEFORE having any testing done!!!!
Several agencies require it and those that do not are expected to in the future. If you are serious about showing that a chihuahua can be healthy in every area and conform to the AKC standard take the time to have them tested after their first birthday. Microchipping will ensure that there are no questions ever asked as to which dog was tested:) You can find a listing of low cost clinics where they will have independent Canine Orthopedic Specialists, Canine Cardiologists and Canine Opthamologists performing the tests to ensure that your results will have a great impact on our breed. We encourage you to make the investment of your time and money to increase the numbers of cleared dogs on the CHIC registry!!!!
